On paper, both wheels seem to be evenly matched. They're both direct drive, 20Nm and 11Nm torque respectively, with standard quick release mechanisms. The Logitech G Pro Racing Wheel has a slightly more premium compatibility with PS5 and Xbox, while the Fanatec Podium DD1 is only compatible with PC, Xbox, and PS5. However, the latter's higher torque output gives it an edge in terms of performance.
I've seen firsthand the frustration that comes with using the Logitech G Pro Racing Wheel. Users are reporting issues with loud vibrations causing rattle in the wheelbase, and poor support from Logitech's "support" team. I've had to deal with broken wheels myself, with no clear resolution in sight. The agents on the phone seem more interested in shifting blame than actually helping. And don't even get me started on the wheel base size – it's smaller than it looks in videos, and you can't have a screen between the rim and the base like some of their marketing materials suggest.
The Fanatec Podium DD1, on the other hand, seems to be a more robust choice. Users are reporting occasional issues with the PSU (which Fanatec has been quick to replace), but overall it seems to be a solid product. The RMA process is said to be smooth and painless, which is a big plus in my book. And let's be real – if you're going to spend this kind of money on a wheel, you want to know that the manufacturer has your back.
For me, it comes down to performance and reliability. In terms of raw power, the Fanatec Podium DD1 takes the cake with its 20Nm torque output. But what really sets it apart is the quality of its support team and RMA process. If you're willing to pay a premium price point for peace of mind and top-notch performance, then the Fanatec Podium DD1 is the clear winner.
However, if you're on a budget or just starting out in sim racing, the Logitech G Pro Racing Wheel might be worth considering. Just don't expect it to hold up to heavy use without some major issues down the line. And for the love of all things good, do not – I repeat, DO NOT – buy from Logitech unless you enjoy playing phone tag with contractors in the Philippines.
