The Specs: On Paper

On paper, both wheels are direct drive beasts with impressive torque ratings. Moza R21 boasts 21Nm, while Fanatec's Podium DD2 takes it up a notch to 25Nm. However, the latter is only compatible with PC and Xbox, whereas the former sticks to PC compatibility.

The Ugly Truth (Real User Experience)

I've seen users reporting issues with Moza R21 that will make your blood boil. Random freezing mid-game, full-lock turns on one side - it's a nightmare. And don't even get me started on their support. You'll be stuck in an endless loop of emails and phone calls trying to get them to replace the PCB (which they might not even do). Users are reporting slow responses and frustration with getting issues resolved.

The big problem here is that Moza's quality control seems to be a hit-or-miss affair. I've heard stories of brand new R21s coming out of the box with issues, only to have owners deal with them on their own because Moza support won't lift a finger. And what about when you're stuck with a defective product? You'll spend weeks trying to get it replaced or repaired, all while your Sim Racing experience is ruined.

Now, I know some users have had decent experiences with the R21, but let's be real - that's not good enough. If a company can't deliver a reliable product, they don't deserve your money. And Moza? They're still stuck in first gear when it comes to quality control.

The Verdict

For hardcore Sim Racers who need the best of the best, I'd recommend splurging on the Fanatec Podium DD2. It's not perfect, but at least its issues are mostly software-related and can be fixed with a firmware update (or so Fanatec claims). Their support might be a pain to deal with, but at least they acknowledge problems exist.

However, if you're on a tighter budget or just starting out in Sim Racing, the Moza R21 is still a viable option. Just don't say I didn't warn you about their spotty quality control and abysmal support. You've been warned - buyer beware!
