On paper, the Simucube 2 Pro has a significant advantage over the Moza R9 V2. With twice the torque (25Nm vs 9Nm), it's clear that Fanatec is going for high-performance enthusiasts. The compatibility and quick release are also standard across both products.
I've seen my fair share of Moza R9 V2 issues, including overheating problems that can be a real pain to deal with. Users are reporting idle oscillation, which can be fixed with software tweaks, but it's still a nuisance. Some folks have had bad batches, and getting replacements or support can be a hassle. I've heard of retailers stepping in to replace faulty units, but the customer service from Moza seems patchy at best. It's hard not to feel like you're on your own when things go wrong. On the other hand, Simucube 2 Pro users seem to have a much more pleasant experience. Sure, there are some issues with coil whine and power supply woes, but it sounds like these are relatively rare. I've read about people having to fiddle with cables and device manager settings to get things working, which is just annoying. The big problem here is that both products seem to have their share of QC issues. It's hard to tell if it's due to sheer volume or actual design flaws. Either way, as a consumer, you're left holding the bag when your product fails.
So who gets my money? If you're looking for raw power and can afford the premium price point, Simucube 2 Pro is the better choice. Don't expect any hand-holding or super-easy setup – it's a high-end product that demands some technical know-how. But if you're on a budget, I'd recommend holding off until Moza gets their act together. The R9 V2 has potential, but it's clear they need to work on their QC and customer support. Maybe in a year or two when the kinks are ironed out.
